SWIMMING ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. 1984, won three gold medals and one silver medal at the Los Angeles Olympics.
  2. The #1 decorated swimmer at the Games
  3. The #2 decorated athlete at the 1984 Olympics.
  4. Nancy Hogshead and Carrie Steinseifer were the first Olympic athletes to tie, to the 1/100th of a second, and to each receive gold medals.
  5. Comeback Swimmer of the Year, 1983.
  6. 1980 Olympian, 200m Butterly, 400m Individual Medley.
  7. 1977, at the age of 14, the only American swimmer to be ranked number one in the world in an international event.
  8. Eight years on the United States National Swimming Team, 1976 - 1984.

  10. First athletic in the Atlantic Coast Conference to win an Olympic Gold Medal.
  11. Undefeated in High School and Collegiate dual meet competitions.
